Dusty Kid plays with the rumored M4L Clip launcher that is supposedly part of the upcoming Lemur OS

This link was anonymously posted by someone on this site. The video allegedly shows the new clip launcher that is to be integrated into the new Lemur OS.

The sources I have spoke to seem to corroborate the fact that this is the real thing. It is hard to make out all of the controls in the video. But from what I can see, it seems that  there is a grid to represent the Live clips and scene launching and scroll bars for scrolling the clips. It looks nice! I think it would be great to not have to look at your laptop and just be able to control everything from a single touch screen. It's getting very exciting! I can't wait to see how these rumors play out...

its already possible with the

its already possible with the lemur if you build it yourself

i have had a clip launcher with names, clip status(including blinking to tempo), and scrolling since november using M4L. this wasnt the exciting part about the integration.

It's about integration.

I've used the same concept on my lemur for a while now. And yes it is possible, but not without some technical hazzle and weird quirks. Messing with python-scripts really messed up one of the earlier versions of Live and I've spend hours of frustrations before having a working DJ interface on the lemur. But when it worked, it was beautiful with clip names and color!!
I think this is about making a seamless integration between Live and Lemur and I'm really excited too. Though it seems to me that Jazzmutant needs to conjure up something bigger than this to justify the high cost compared to the iPad.
Hence - you're absolutely right, JannisPablo. Get a move on, Mutants.. (we still love you ;-* )

This is an interesting competitor to what the iPad will do

It seems like they're trying to get one step ahead of what the iPad could do with a custom OSC app like touchOSC like Jannis posted. I see that completely replacing the lemur, for the same price, you could have 4 ipads, i dont see what would make the lemur better in this place.

I didn't see any clip names

I didn't see any clip names showing in the video... does this just use the LOM, or does it still rely on python scripts???

I'm not sure what you mean by the "next Lemur OS," does this M4L interface require a firmware update on the Lemur itself? Or is Jazzmutant just trying to release this exclusively? If that's the case, why are we still waiting? I've been on the lookout for one of these Lemur clip launchers since M4L came out! by the way...

Any chance you could post your .amxd? I'll admit I don't really know my way around the Live API yet, and I'd love to see how it works!!! Thanks,

ClipLauncher

This is cool.

The problem with the ClipLauncher that's already available in the JazzMutant Lemur Area is that the Python interface and the OSC processing gets very slow with a large clip matrix.

It's fine for launching clips, but if you scroll up and down it takes a while to update the whole screen, especially if you are updating color and clip names too.

If the M4L version can offload some of the work to computer, or the new Lemur OS is somehow optimised for clip launching, then I look forward to it!
