max4live.info tutorial: In Control: (Launchpad Edition) - Switching Modes

This is part two of the multipart In Control (Launchpad Edition) series. This tutorial highlights how to switch modes when controlling the Launchpad. You will learn how to grab the mode (session, user1, user2, and mixer) and only apply actions and listeners while in the chosen mode.

As always, the patch for this tutorial is available in the tutorial section of the forums.

Hey i have a question: In

Hey i have a question:

In this tutorial you showed how to access m4l api to get/set some values, but how do you redefine already existing midi mappings?

e.g. if you select apc40 as your control surface in live, it will have some preselected mappings
now i want to map a completely different functionality to 1 volume slider
how do i unmap the volume slider from its original function?
i can imagine that Live is getting midi input before any m4l patcher in the set, so if i map a parameter to the volume slider it will execute Lives integrated functionality of the volume slider PLUS the functionality i mapped it to (i didnt try it, but im sure thats the way it works)

a possible workaround would be to map the volume slider to a auxiliary clip, which just doesnt do anything (starting a clip slot with no clip = nothing)

but now comes the problem with the changeable modes of Device Control and Track Control, preventing me from mapping the set of knobs in every mode, because the mode switch is done internally in live

do you have an idea how to do this?
