problems with Mu (solved)

hello

i am running Live 8.1.3, Lemur v2.0.3, Mu V1.0 and OS X v10.6.2.

i have spent hours trying to get Mu to connect.
i open the Jazz Editor and it sees the Lemur no problem.
I restart everything (leaving lazz daemon and jazz editor off) and open a Live project and drop the mu.axmd onto my MASTER channel and the Lemur shows up in the Mu panel as being connected to port 8000 of the IP of my mac.
I have the path set up in Max in file prefs, and the entire Mu folder is in Applications/Max5/Cycling '74/Mu_V1.0.
I drop the Mu.jzml file onto the "Drop Jzml file here" box on my Mu panel in my Live project.
It semi-loads onto the Lemur (all gray boxes and no transport functionality and no thumbnails showing up, no connectivity).

The Lemur has an OSC target 0 set up with the IP of my mac and port 8000.
The Mu panel in my Live project is showing the IP of the Lemur and an "OSC Target 0 Port" of 8000.

Mu has worked briefly in the past so I know what to expect when it does work.

I feel as though there are multiple objects grabbing the same OSC port number but when I change both port 8000 settings to port 8001 or 8010 i get the same results.

I've reinstalled the Lemur firmware multiple times but should I blow out Live's preferences?

Should there be any midi connections set up in the prefs for Live?

I was going to switch to a new user on the computer but Live wants to reinstall all of the instruments again and i don't have the drive space.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

****** here was the only reply (with my comments following)...

>>? do you mean that you Lemur has the same IP than your mac ?..

nope, two separate IPs.

>>don't use port 8001 !
>>Port 8001 and 8002 should not be used, because the JazzEditor and >>JazzDaemon use those ports to establish connections with the Lemur.

good to know but i've tried port 8010 which doesn't work either.

>>Live's preferences has nothing to see with Mu, so I think it's useless.

good to know.

>>please check your Lemur's TCP/IP setup ;
>>what are your settings ?

IP: 192.168.5.115
netMask 255.255.255.0
gateway: 192.168.5.1

>>what is your computer's IP address ?

IP: 192.168.5.116
netMask 255.255.255.0
gateway: 192.168.5.1

>>be sure to disable any firewall.

firewall is inactive.

it's only an issue with Live.
when i open the jazz editor or the daemon everything sees each other.

UPDATE!

I tried the same setup on a different mac and it worked perfectly.
This leads me to believe there is something in my laptop network prefs that is causing my connection issues.
I will post any fixes i find.

thanks.

SOLVED!

It had nothing to do with my network settings. Something in the way I had installed Mu was causing trouble. I originally installed it in a separate folder outside the Max folder and set up the path with in the Max prefs (accessed through the little tab at the top of the Max object box within a tracks effects box). Mu worked for awhile here. But then it started acting buggy: it would not update on the Lemur screen, the template would not auto load into the Lemur, etc. so I moved the Mu folder to applications/Max5/Cycling '74/ . I reset the path in the Max5 prefs but the Mu app continued to degrade.

So, after HOURS of fiddling about and hailing people on forums I simply through everything Mu away, redownloaded the app, and reinstalled directly into the applications/Max5/Cycling '74/ directory and it worked.

The feeling was one of both elation and frustration.

But i'm up!

Thanks and sorry i didn't try that earlier.
