Traktor pro mode for the APC -HELP

Hi All
I'm thinking about attempting my first Maxforlive patch.
I use Traktor Pro and Ableton together, and would like to operate both programs with the APC. My plan is to program a user mode for Traktor by pressing the metronome button.
Before  i start to go through all the in control tutorials which should get me started - i have a question?
Traktor pro can output messages for the LED's, so i'd like my max patch to recieve midi output messages from Traktor. Can this be done?
I could program the led's in max but would rather have traktor set the leds to ensure led feedback is correct.
All help much appreciated.
Cheers

There are a lot of ways to do a lot of things with these programs. Some work better than others, some are easier than others.

My 2cents is just go for it and find out.

I wish I had a better answer, but I feel like the question is based on speculation of building, hence the just go for it, dive in.

@Josephperkins

I am not sure of exactly what you want to do... But, if you are using them rewired then M4L won't work. I am not sure how you plan to get the control between the two, M4L just allows you to send and receive in and out of the Live environment. It sounds like you might just want to create a plain Max patch to do what you want. You would really have to explain the usage scenario a little bit better for me to understand what you are going for.

This is what i'm trying to achieve in detail.

To start with i would like to disable the:

Clip launch matrix
Track control rotaries
Device control rotaries

I need more than 1 user mode. 4 would be ideal - using buttons, detail view 5, rec quantization 6, midi overdub 7, metronome8.
Navigating between presets with a simple toggle setup, one button press. LED feedback showing what mode was selected.

1) Ableton mode = Detail view
2) Traktor transport 4 decks = Rec Quantization
3) Traktor Hotcues 4 decks = Midi overdub
4) Traktor Effects On / Off = Metronome

Ableton mode = would enable the clip matrix, track control, device control. this would work like the default APC mode.

Traktor Transport=
Play / Pause toggle button x4 = Play green blinking / pause red
Loop in / out x4 = two one button triggers.

Traktor hotcues 8x4
Deck 1 hotcue 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8 = Green
DEck 2 hotcue 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8 = red
Deck 2 hotcue 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8 = Green
DEck 4 hotcue 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8 = red

each pad with a different midi output

each pad would need to be a different midi out control. I could then route a midi out track from ableton into traktor.
Each pad would need to be different from the traktor transport controls. To avoid conflicting messages.

Traktor Effect
4x4 on/ off toggle switches
On = Green
Off = Red

When in

2) Traktor transport 4 decks = Rec Quantization
3) Traktor Hotcues 4 decks = Midi overdub
4) Traktor Effects On / Off = Metronome

I would like the rotaries to be disconnected to live.

Track control rotaries would have four modes, again using the pan, send A, send B, send C to toggle between mode.

The device control would allow have four mode using the clip/ Track, Device on/off, left arrow, right arrow.

Led feedback it critical so switching between Track contol / Device modes will update the led based on the controls position in traktor.

I'm going to start going through the APC / Lauchpad tutorial videos.

I'm sure i'll have a specifc question soon.

Thanks

So you would need to remap some of the functionality of the APC40. This would require creating some buttons that you would repurpose (like the metronome button) in order to switch between core functionality and the new modes. You would then need to create logic for the new controls in M4L that would then output to either an IAC bus in OSX or one of the virtual midi Apps in windows.

Then, after you have mapped all of that functionality in Live, you would have to build you midi map in Traktor or map it to an existing TSI.

I say use Maschine and be done with it. :-)

No, but really, it can be done. If you have specific questions along the way then please feel free to ask.

Where to start?

ok i've watched all the in control tutorials, but think i need to go through some basis tutorials. Shall i go through the tutorials with live or can you point towards a tutorial more relevant to this project.

Can you explain how to turn off track control / Device control?
